Pretty much everything here originally appeared at my actual blog: By Singing Light. I particularly focus on upper middle-grade and young adult books. I also enjoy adult genre books, especially speculative fiction.
Someone on Twitter (can’t remember who!) mentioned this memoir of Christie’s years as an archaeologist–or archaeologist’s wife? I found that it’s a gentler and more witty version of Christie’s writing, full of funny stories about herself and the others in the expedition. Also, sadly, full of paternalistic racism & imperialism. She’s maybe slightly more self-aware here? but it’s still very present.
