By Singing Light

Pretty much everything here originally appeared at my actual blog: By Singing Light. I particularly focus on upper middle-grade and young adult books. I also enjoy adult genre books, especially speculative fiction.

A Countess Below Stairs - Eva Ibbotson The nicest thing about this book was that the author had obviously done her research where Russia was concerned. Overall, it was pretty much a generic clean romance. I might read it again, but it didn’t blow me out of the water. (June 2008)

This book made me cry (World War I: making me cry since 9th grade) . But it’s a really sweet story and I definitely liked it. [Oct. 2010]

I had a job interview at a bookstore and then I had to wait around for awhile, so I bought this to wile away the time. It’s definitely my favorite Ibbotson, although it requires significant suspension of disbelief. [Jan. 2011]
