Pretty much everything here originally appeared at my actual blog: By Singing Light. I particularly focus on upper middle-grade and young adult books. I also enjoy adult genre books, especially speculative fiction.

Hexwood - Diana Wynne Jones This one was odd, in a good way. It felt dream-like. [Oct. 2008]

I had vague memories of liking this one and on a re-read I certainly did. Jones kept me guessing the whole way through. You know that old “no one is who they seem” shtick? It actually applies here. [Feb. 2010]

This is one of my favorite DWJ books–I love the way it weaves together Arthurian myths and completely mad scifi, while at the same time being a perfectly good story. I’m not sure that it would be to everyone’s taste, since it takes a while to get what’s going on, but I love it. [Apr. 2011]
