By Singing Light

Pretty much everything here originally appeared at my actual blog: By Singing Light. I particularly focus on upper middle-grade and young adult books. I also enjoy adult genre books, especially speculative fiction.

The Singing Sands - Josephine Tey, Robert Barnard I love Josephine Tey, and this is one of her best books! An interesting mystery and the characters, as always, stand out so sharply. (Feb 2008)

One of Tey’s Inspector Grant books. As with most of them, this is almost as much about Grant as it is about the mystery. Includes Pat, who is always delightful. Tey’s one defect is a propensity to be unkind to marginalized groups, which does come out here. [July 2011]
