I love fairy tales and I love papercuts, so I was hoping to love this. But I'm not such a fan of the Angela Carter tradition and that's definitely where this one lies. After a certain point, the stories started to seem predictable: the ending will be twisted, the good guys turn out bad, the tropes subverted. Which is fine, but for me was not the reading experience I wanted. Others, including my friend Michelle and Holly Black, have really liked it, so your mileage may vary.
