Pretty much everything here originally appeared at my actual blog: By Singing Light. I particularly focus on upper middle-grade and young adult books. I also enjoy adult genre books, especially speculative fiction.

A Face Like Glass - Frances Hardinge You guys, if you're not reading Frances Hardinge, you really need to. She is amazing--one of the most vivid & imaginative writers out there. The Lost Conspiracy is my favorite of her books, but I loved A Face Like Glass with its weird underground world. If there's a very slight reservation I have, it's that the end seemed like it came out of the blue--I wished it had been set up a little better. But that doesn't matter, because I loved it anyway and FRANCES HARDINGE.
